Osol – the future-oriented startup focusing on workplace impact – has won the Workplace Startup Award 2024 alongside Allianz, a leading insurance company. The award was bestowed by over 100 corporate real estate and workplace environment directors.
Together, Osol and Allianz have demonstrated significant reductions in facility maintenance costs, reorganization efforts, and carbon emissions, while vastly improving user experience within Allianz's French buildings.
Founded in 2016 as a spin-off from the European Space Agency (ESA) and the National Centre for Space Studies (CNES), Osol initially developed mobile solar generators for outdoor use. Since 2020, Osol has shifted its focus to developing nomadic energy solutions tailored for workspaces, aligning with evolving workplace trends such as flex office setups.
The concept involves Osol creating electrical bases containing smart "workpods" available for self-service use, capable of powering computers and other mobile devices throughout a workday. Connected to a power outlet, each base houses ten "workpods," each providing eight to twenty hours of autonomy to any computer. This system enables data collection on usage patterns and transforms any space into a potential work environment.
